Our Experience & Accomplishments

Ranked #1 By Google For Expert Puppy
Training!
Established
in 2003, under the direction of award winning dog trainers, Puppywishes
(later to become Puppywishes.com), has steadily grown into one of the
most popular puppy training websites on the internet. With thousands of
puppy owners turning to us for help every day, Puppywishes.com has
proven, time and time again, that our humane puppy training approach is
exactly what most puppy owners need when they are looking for reliable
puppy training advice. Our training methods have been featured on
national radio as well as The Discovery Channel's popular show Animal
Planet.
●
Our Experience

Puppywishes.com is comprised of a group of dog trainers and dedicated
dog owners all of
whom share a profound love and respect for dogs.
Each one of our trainers has extensive experience living with and
working with dogs. This includes rescuing and rehabilitating dogs with
serious behavior problems. Our work has been awarded by our peers and
featured on national television and radio. We have been published in
parenting
magazines
as well as popular dog related magazines and newspapers. We have also
been employed by The Toronto Humane Society and The Mississauga Humane
Society to help save dogs that would have otherwise been put to death.
The people who have made Puppywishes
possible are:

What Makes Us Special?
Unlike other puppy training websites that promise overnight results,
Puppywishes.com has built its reputation on providing the public with
gimmick free puppy training advice. We have done away with zappers,
clickers, halters, and chains, and provide the most holistic puppy
training approach available.
Drawing on our extensive knowledge of dog training history, and the
trainers that shape current training philosophies, our team of puppy
training experts have sorted the puppy training mistakes from the
brilliant discoveries. With more than twenty five years experience
working exclusively with dogs, puppies and puppy owners, we are
confident that our seven step puppy training approach captures the best
puppy training advice you will find.
●
Certified Dog Trainers
There is no official recognition or certification that a dog trainer can
obtain in the pet training industry. This news often comes as a great
surprise to most dog owners, particularly those who have seen dog
trainers claim that they are "certified".
Dog trainer certifications are only given out by independent training
schools, and are not issued by any single university that teaches dog
training. Simply put, the people who certify trainers do not have the
authority or approval from the training industry to do so.
This said, there are a few training establishments that
offer credible schooling, and teach a well balanced course. For
referrals please email us.

● Dog Training
Organizations
The
problem with many dog training organizations is that they can be
somewhat narrow minded on subjects that pertain to dog training. Rather
than organize a beneficial assembly of general training opinions, many
dog training organizations act as judgmental specialty groups with self
serving agendas.
On the other hand, many of the larger dog training organizations are, in
our opinion, far too liberal with the kind of training methods they
foster; many of which are outdated and abusive.
Puppywishes.com
respects the efforts made by many dog training organizations,
particularly the International Positive Dog Trainers Association,
and The International Association of Canine Professionals.
●
Experience Matters
Because there is no official certification that has national
recognition, dog and puppy owners are well advised to seek out trainers
who have a great deal of experience. Poor dog trainers are generally
those who start working with the public before they have had the
opportunity to try a multitude of training methods.
●
Our Methods
Because
of the divers nature of our faculty we do not have a general training
method that we subscribe to; we believe that there are many good
training methods. However, we are also careful not to adopt trendy
training ideas, and try our best to uphold training methods that have
strong historical roots.
We are most impressed by the teachings of
Chuck P. Eisenmann, trainer of The
Littlest Hobo. We feel that his training approach is one of the few that
truly understands and uses the incredible intelligence of dogs.
► We do not subscribe to training methods that cause people to hit their
pets, unless the hitting is done in self-defense. If you are being
attacked by a large dog, please, defend yourself. We believe that
hitting (in almost all cases), causes dogs to become fearful, and
fearful dogs often develop into biters.
► We do not subscribe to training methods that encourage people to bribe
their dogs with food. These highly seductive training methods are too
generalized and do not address the special needs of the domestic dog.
The practitioners of these methods are often radical in their wanting to
save dogs from what they perceive to be abuse, where in fact no abuse
has occurred. We do believe in humane discipline and reject training
philosophies that ask dog owners to stay FOREVER positive.
► We believe that dogs have rich emotional lives that are not that
different from our own. Yes, we are guilty of anthropomorphism and proud
of it. We believe that dogs should learn to respect us, in much the same
way that we all learn to respect one another. Not with violence and
bribes, but with understanding, consistency, boundaries and love. We use
these basic guidelines to shape everything we teach.
The people behind the success of
Puppywishes are: Adam Stone, Corey Reddick, Laurie Farrance, Lesley
Thompson, Justin Rotteveel, Maxx Gregg, Cindy Stone and Brenda Hoffman.
Along with these names there are other trainers who have helped
Puppywishes.com grow and we are grateful for their work. There
names will appear where appropriate throughout this website.
We would also like to thank Gillian Ridgeway
of Whos Walking Who for her continued support over the years. We love
you.
